When I first came into the office I was welcomed by Justin. He then gave me a brief orientation of the office, like where the toilets are, and medical stuff, and health & safety, and that’s all there really was to cover. Then we went and set up my Mac Mini.
HOW FRIENDLY THE STAFF ARE
The staff aren’t as strict as you would think in a office. They put music on, they turn on the underfloor heating and the work environment is very relaxed. If you are stuck, they won’t just help you – they will tell you how to improve and ask if you need some help on the next question (or whatever you are doing).
GOING OUT TO SEE CLIENTS
It was going out to see clients with Justin because I had lots of stuff to do and learnt alot.
THINGS I HAD TO DO
The things I had to do included:- setting up a Mac, web design, Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) in Excel, SQL, how to use a mac, creating a password sheet for a client and making job sheets (whenever we visited a client we filled out a job sheet with the list of things to do and ticked them off as we went and added any additional notes).
On Friday we all went to the Urban Kitchen for our lunch. The office do this on the last Friday of every month – we all had a great time.
Every other lunch I went into the office kitchen and ate my lunch in there. On the first day I went to the nature trail next to Castel School but it was really muddy so I headed back to the office.
One mistake I made was because I was so new to the whole Mac thing instead of ejecting a memory stick I pulled out the stick while it was still ejecting and the memory stick got corrupted. Luckily it was only a copy of stuff we already had on the computer so we were able to fix it easily.
So to sum up the whole week it was an amazing experience and I got to learn a bunch of cool stuff. The fact that everyone is so friendly in the office, and how relaxed the work environment is, are the reasons why I am going to miss the Donkeylogic team.
